But holy wow, you are really articulating some great ideas. Firstly, I love the idea of the public having more access to context around the public art pieces. I know we have both called the number available for certain pieces to get more information. I was so much more open to see Rodney Graham's work after dialing 604-998-8038 (press 1). Hearing his voice was so intimate and fun, like listening to the radio. I'd love more audio no matter what :), but this is a great resource. And it's got me thinking if there are any better resources to getting the word out to the public about these pieces.
And secondly, I love that you bring up our need to care for the pieces overtime or have a plan to. I think learning more about them, we feel more attached/connected to them as a community and like city-wide composting or another resource, we'll want to care for these pieces. It sometimes can feel that some of the pieces were plucked out of the ethers and dropped in (maybe Jerry Pethick would like this idea! haha) but learning more about the works and hearing from such incredible people like Bryan Newson really creates so much more meaning. I wish everyone could have access to that!
Thanks for your post!!
From: Lauriewalkinghomeprojectsyouthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05327666372577312383noreply@blogger.com
